DIY Wood Mosaic Wall Art – Drama Is The New Black Interior Trend
Living in the Northern hemisphere means short days and it will be dark by 4 pm. This signifies that it’s perfect to give your home even more attention. Ward off the gloom by making your home feel like a luxurious haven.
Therefore I’m happy to announce that I’ve teamed up with BOEN hardwood flooring to give you an insight into the lastest according to flooring trends. Furthermore, you’ll get inspiration on how to create your own wall art, and look at the trends that can make your home feel more inviting amid the encroaching chill.
If you don’t already know the Norwegian company here’s a short introduction to BOEN.
BOEN Flooring
BOEN, located in Norway is known for their long tradition of craftsmanship, based on the respect for nature’s resources. Each of approx. 13 various wood types are being manufactured in the safest and most way possible.
BOEN can assist you with any project from choosing the right flooring solution for your space which includes everything from 3-strip, plank or patterned hardwood flooring to offer maintenance products for all flooring in their range.
Drama Is The New Black
Together with one of the most renowned interior trend experts, Gudy Herder from eclectic trends – Boen has developed 3 different trends and paired them with their collection of high-quality hardwood floors.

Drama Is The New Black speaks to the two new dark hardwood floors, Oak Chalk Black Live Pure & Oak Ebony Live Pure – The Live Pure finish is a very special and really gorgeous surface treatment. One of the strongest lacquers on the market with a luxurious satin, oily feel.
This moody trend palette takes the best from the past and makes it ours. The dark and rich hues revists everything from elegant home decorations to dark blue shades. Create a serious style statement with dark wall paint.

If you’re not into the moody walls, contrasting your space with dark flooring in any style will look impressive and expressive. The exclusive appearance of the trend parquet floors will add drama and warmth to your space in an instant.
The brushed surface, the warmth and visual grains of the OAK Ebony and OAK Chalk Black works very well with the playful terracotta, brass any botanical touch.

How To Use Dark Flooring
My favourite interior decorations tips are to use dark colours in small spaces. Using this technique will allow you to create an elegant statement space.
If you uncertain if you’re into this ambience cocooning feeling, try to balance dark flooring with contrasting bright or light details, in order not to create a sense of a more defined space.
The OAK Ebony and OAK Chalk Black black hardwood floors will fit any space – from the kitchen, bathroom and compliment any style of artworks, furniture and accessories.
Classic white wall, white trim or ceiling looks elegant paired with dark wooden floors and will give your space a soft “glow” by reflecting the natural light.
Boen flooring has created the new dark hardwood floors to create a dazzling effect and soulful hint of drama. Make your space a safe haven by complimenting your dark wooden floors with dense and deep paint colours on your walls.
To inspire you to create the latest trends in your own space, I’ve interpreted this trend into two different mood boards. Now and it’s time for the tutorial on how to create your own wood mosaic wall art.
DIY Wood Mosaic Wall Art
Supplies:
Black Wood Flooring Cuts, two different colours or types of wood
Rigid backing material (I used a frame backing board, MFD)
Wood Glue
Tutorial – DIY Wood Mosaic Wall Art
Step 1
If you haven’t got samples of dark wood, cut 15 pieces of wood, sand around the edges and paint the pieces.
Step 2
Now it’s time to arrange and create your design by laying out each block on the backing piece.
Step 3
Apply a thin layer of wood glue on the bottoms and glue each of the pieces in place and that’s it!
DIY Wood Mosaic Wall Art Variation
There’s endless way to variate this DIY Wood Mosaic Wall Art and the masculine look will work great with any decor style. The earthy feel of the hardwood flooring pieces adds a bit more sophisticated and substantial touch to the wall.
Here’s a variation styled with French cane (rattan webbing). I absolutely love the delicate french cane together with the wood.
Creating a connection with the past by adding a modern touch with the trendy black wood, instantly adds this dramatic authenticity, right?
